Mark Andrew Irons, 29, Jasonville, was arrested by Chief Ryan VanHorn of the Jasonville Police Department on Wednesday afternoon, January 20.
An active protective order was in effect protecting a family member of Mark Irons from contact with Irons when dispatch at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department got a call around 12 noon on Wednesday reporting Irons was violating the order.
The caller, who was the protected person, said Irons was just at his house in Jasonville and that Irons had come after him with a knife. The caller said he hit Irons when he came at him and Irons then left on foot.
Officer VanHorn responded and located Irons walking near South Lawton and Locust streets in Jasonville. Irons was detained and an ambulance was called because Irons had a gash under an eye.
JPD Officer Andrew Duguay also responded.
Irons allegedly said he went to the residence to use a phone and that the man had hit him with the butt of a knife. He also admitted he knew there was a protective order in place.
When Officer VanHorn talked to the protected person, he was told Irons came and wanted to use the phone and they got into a verbal argument because Irons was knocking stuff around. He said he asked Irons to leave but Irons pulled out a knife and uttered threats. The protected person also pulled out a knife and was backing away when Irons advanced on him. He said he hit Irons then Irons left.
Officer VanHorn reported that Officer Duguay found Irons to be in possession of a knife and also a syringe.
Officer VanHorn also reported the protected person did not want to cooperate with having Irons charged with intimidation.
Irons was transported to Greene County General Hospital and after a medical clearance, was transported to the Greene County Jail. He was booked in at 2:45 p.m. and was being held without bond pending court appearance.
A date for an initial hearing has not been set but when he appears in Greene Superior Court, he will be formally charged with invasion of privacy in violation of a protective order, a Class A misdemeanor.
