Kevin Douglas Johnson, 47, a former resident of Linton, is an inmate at the Greene County Jail.

Last October, Johnson was arrested after an altercation with a Linton police officer.

Johnson was then accused of getting into a physical altercation with jail officers in December and was charged with battery with bodily injury, a Level 5 felony, and battery by bodily waste, a Level 6 felony.

After another altercation occurred on February 8, the next criminal case was filed against him and he was charged with battery with bodily injury to a public safety officer, a Level 5 felony.

Now, Johnson is facing yet another new case.

GCSD Deputy Michael Coy, the investigating officer, was dispatched late in the afternoon of February 9 after jail staff reported Johnson had spit on a jail officer. The jail officer was picking up food trays through the “bean hole” when Johnson allegedly spit through the door.

Johnson declined to talk to Deputy Coy about the incident.

Deputy Coy reported video from the jail’s surveillance system recorded the incident and showed Johnson squatting down with his face near the door then his head moving in a manner consistent with someone spitting. Johnson then tossed an item through the door.

When the jail officer was interviewed, he said he was picking up meal trays and when he attempted to retrieve a meal tray from Johnson, he reached for the tray and stepped in front of the access port in the door. As he stepped in front of the door, Johnson spit on him. The spit hit the officer’s right leg and part of his shirt. He said Johnson told him he would kill him right then if the officer opened the door.

A warrant was issued for Johnson’s arrest and it’s been served to him in jail.

When he appears for another initial hearing, he will be formally charged with battery by bodily waste on a public safety officer, a Level 6 felony.
