Jason Aaron Reynolds, 40, Indianapolis, was arrested by Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department following an incident late Sunday, January 10, Reynolds was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:45 a.m. on Monday, January 11.

Deputy Jackson was dispatched after a 911 caller reported late Sunday night that a gray pickup truck ran off the road in Worthington, hit a sign then didn’t stop but continued on driving southbound on State Road 67. The caller said the truck had a flat front tire on the passenger side and a dent in the door on the passenger side.

Deputy Jackson headed toward Worthington and was northbound on US 231 when he saw the gray pickup truck off the side of the road near County Road 315 North, which would be south of the “blinker light.” Deputy Jackson noticed the tires were flat on the passenger side of the truck and he turned around and stopped.

Jason Reynolds was the driver. While talking with him, Deputy Jackson reported he could smell both the odors of alcohol and marijuana. Reynolds allegedly said he was driving when he ran over a curb which caused the damage. Deputy Jackson told him he believed he had hit a sign then left the scene. Reynolds denied that at first then later admitted he did hit the sign and kept going.

Reynolds allegedly admitted he had been drinking alcohol earlier in the day and he did not pass field sobriety testing on the scene.

After GCSD Deputy Devan Goad arrived to assist, the truck was searched and deputies reported finding a leafy plant material in several plastic bags – believed to be marijuana. They also found handguns.

One handgun, Arminius revolver .38 special, was located on the passenger seat. Another handgun, a Sig Sauer P365 9 mm, was located on the floorboard on the passenger side, along with alcoholic beverages. Both of the handguns were loaded.

During a records check on the handguns, Deputy Jackson learned the Sig Sauer had been reported as stolen out of Vincennes.

Reynolds was transported to the sheriff’s department where he passed one part of standard field sobriety testing but failed the others. Reynolds refused to take a chemical test so a search warrant was obtained and a blood draw was taken by Greene County EMS personnel at the sheriff’s department – results pending.

During an interview, Reynolds again admitted he hit the sign in Worthington, but he denied possessing the plant material and the handguns.

Deputy Jackson said he had reviewed Reynolds’ criminal history and that he was convicted of armed robbery, a Class B felony, in 2006 in Marion County.

When he was booked in, his bond was set at $14,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $1,450 and been released from jail.

He is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on January 25.

Preliminary charges filed against Reynolds include:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, with a prior within seven years, a Level 6 felony,

  • Felon carrying a handgun – defendant has a prior felony conviction within the last 15 years, a Level 5 felony,
