Greene County Drug Task Force investigation results in arrest
/As a result of an ongoing investigation by officers of the Greene County Drug Task Force, a Linton man was taken into custody late Monday. He is accused of dealing methamphetamine in quantities and has been charged with two Level 5 felonies.
Joshua Robert Edmondson, 36, Linton, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department late Monday night, January 11.
After a warrant for Edmondson’s arrest was issued earlier in the day, in a sealed case, Edmondson was taken into custody then booked into the Greene County Jail at 11:10 p.m. Monday.
When Edmondson appeared in Greene Circuit Court early this morning, Wednesday, January 13, he was charged with two counts of dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony.
Edmondson is accused of selling a quantity of methamphetamine in two different transactions during November, 2020.
In the probable cause document, an investigator from the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office explained the Task Force was in possession of the methamphetamine that was sold – it field-tested positive as methamphetamine.
Other evidence includes audio and video evidence of the transactions, text messages that were exchanged between Edmondson and buyers, and there is at least one witness to each transaction.
The transactions allegedly occurred at Edmondson’s residence in the Vicksburg area.
After Edmondson’s arrest, he was held without bond pending his court appearance.
This morning, before Judge Erik Allen, Edmondson was formally charged and he asked for a court-appointed attorney. Judge Allen denied the request.
Edmondson’s bond was set at $15,000 surety or cash with ten percent cash allowed.
After the hearing, Edmondson posted $1,500 and was released from jail.
