Jerry Lee Padgett, 33, Linton, was arrested on Monday night, January 11, by Deputy Michael Stanley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant issued following an ongoing investigation led by Officer Andrew Duguay of the Jasonville Police Department.

Padgett, booked into the Greene County Jail around 10 p.m. Monday, was first held without bond pending court appearance.

When Padgett appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing yesterday afternoon, Thursday, January 14, he was charged with two counts of dealing in methamphetamine. Both counts are Level 5 felonies.

Padgett has been under investigation for some time by Officer Duguay and other officers from the Greene County Drug Task Force for suspected methamphetamine dealing.

Padgett is accused of selling a quantity of methamphetamine from his residence on County Road 1000 West, Linton, on at least two occasions in December.

According to Officer Duguay, evidence includes the methamphetamine that was purchased during the transactions as well as audio and video evidence and witness statements.

During his appearance in court via two-way video, a public defender was appointed to represent Padgett and Judge Dena Martin set Padgett’s bond at $50,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late Friday, Padgett had not yet posted bond and remained in the Greene County Jail.
