Greene County General Hospital selects its 2025 Outstanding Leader of the Year
/Greene County General Hospital (GCGH) is excited to announce Director of Orthopedics and Specialty Clinics Theo Gardner as its 2025 Outstanding Leader of the Year.
Each year, hospital administration team members accept nominations from staff for this annual award. Gardner received multiple nominations— all noting that he is a selfless, communicative, and dedicated leader. Gardner’s staff say it’s an honor to work for a director who approaches each day with positivity and a genuine smile, regardless of the challenges ahead. They say his positive attitude is contagious, and he serves his team and patients with enthusiasm and compassion. His team praises Gardner for his willingness to lend a hand wherever needed no matter the task. Staff say Gardner consistently listens to their concerns, values their input, and ensures that every team member feels heard, respected, and appreciated.
Gardner began a career in healthcare in 2003 as a receptionist, discovering early on a passion for serving others and supporting patients. That commitment has guided more than two decades of experience in patient care and healthcare leadership. In 2010, Gardner earned a certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), strengthening the foundation of clinical knowledge and professional expertise. In 2014, Gardner began working with General Surgeon Dr. Cam Gabrielsen and their professional partnership ultimately brought both to GCGH. Garnder says, “Throughout this journey, Dr. Gabrielsen has been a trusted mentor and friend, providing guidance and support every step of the way. I credit this mentorship as instrumental in professional growth and would not be in my current role without his leadership and encouragement. Thank you, Dr Cam.”
Gardner says the moment he arrived at GCGH; it was clear there was something special about the organization. Gardner has served as Director of Orthopedics and Specialty Clinics since December of 2022 and says working alongside an amazing team of employees who are dedicated and collaborative has been essential to success. “I value the culture at Greene County General Hospital and describe it as a place that truly feels like family— one where patient care and patient satisfaction are always the top priorities.”, says Gardner.
