Dugger woman arrested in Christmas Eve shoplifting incident
/A Dugger woman arrested on Christmas Eve was scheduled to be in court this week to face a charge of theft. She’s accused of trying to walk out of a store with over $700 worth of items.
Chaunisty Beth Ann Daniels, 37, Dugger, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department on Tuesday, December 24. Her bond was set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $100 and was released the same night.
She was scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court today, Monday, January 6, for her initial hearing. Daniels is facing a charge of theft, a Class A misdemeanor.
Officer King responded to the Walmart store in Linton around 5:24 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, after the store reported employees had stopped a female shoplifter.
When Officer King arrived, he talked to one of the store’s Asset Protection Associates (APA) who told him three employees had observed Daniels selecting numerous items then concealing them in bags that she had brought in with her.
The APA said Daniels then made her way to the door on the grocery side of the store and walked past the registers and attempted to exit the store without purchasing the items.
The APA said the total value of the items was $726.68 and included Pokemon cards, gift boxes, gift bags, shaving kits, cutlery and multiple items from the grocery department.
