Driver gets another driver to pull over after almost causing accidents
/After a driver witnessed another vehicle travel all over the road and almost cause accidents, the driver managed to get the other driver to pull over.
Holly Jo Erdmann, 57, Plainfield, was arrested by Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, April 4.
Deputy Holt was dispatched at 2:23 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, to an area on State Road 45 after a caller reported a reckless driver, southbound on SR 45, was all over the road, had driven off the road several times and had almost caused accidents. The caller said he was able to get the vehicle to stop and he was preventing the driver from driving away.
When Deputy Holt located the incident, he reported Erdmann was the driver and that he could smell the moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. He reported signs of intoxication and the driver first said she had taken medication before she denied taking any medication. An ambulance was requested and medical personnel cleared her for medical issues.
Erdmann refused to take standard field sobriety tests and refused to take a chemical test. She was placed under arrest and transported. After a search warrant was issued, a blood draw was taken.
During a vehicle inventory, a mixed alcoholic drink was found in a cup holder in the center arm rest and an open but half-empty vodka bottle was found behind the driver’s seat.
Erdmann was booked in at 5:21 p.m. Her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She has since posted bond, been released and retained Defense Attorney Greg Stark of Indianapolis to represent her.
The defense filed a motion to waive the initial hearing and Erdmann has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
