Rhonda Renee Wilkerson, 46, Bloomfield, was arrested by Indiana State Police Trooper Caleb Garvin late Tuesday night, March 9.

Wilkerson was a passenger in a red Dodge pickup truck that was pulled over around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday on State Road 54 west of Sharkey Road east of Bloomfield.

William N. Hutcherson Jr., 57, Bloomfield, was the driver.

ISP Trooper Garvin was on patrol with Trooper Curtis Wilder, eastbound on SR 54 following the truck which they said swerved multiple times within its own lane from the yellow line to the white line. Trooper Garvin said one time the truck crossed over the yellow line then corrected all the way over to the white line. A license plate check revealed the registered owner, Hutcherson, had a suspended driver’s license.

During the stop, both troopers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the truck and Hutcherson and Wilkerson were told to exit.

During a search, Trooper Garvin located a backpack that was in the floorboard between Wilkerson and the door. Wilkerson’s identification was inside. So was a syringe containing a liquid substance that field-tested as methamphetamine. Trooper Wilder located a cigarette pack in the dash that contained a hand-rolled cigarette with plant material that appeared to be marijuana.

Hutcherson was issued a summons to appear in court on a criminal charge of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, then released from the scene to get a ride with a valid driver.

Wilkerson was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where she was being held without bond pending court appearance. She was booked in at 11:21 p.m.

Wilkerson is facing preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.
