County offering tornado clean-up; utilizing $150,000 in Rainy Day Funds
/Greene County will offer tornado construction debris removal from the edge of the rights-of-way to the roll-offs and empty roll-offs beginning at 8 a.m. on June 16-Wednesday June 25 at 4 p.m., according to a press release from the county. Forty 10-yard roll-off bins will be placed near locations of damage.
Any residents who have suffered tornado damage and have construction waste (drywall, insulation, unpainted wood—no metals, concrete, or cinder block), who wish the county’s assistance in removal of construction debris, are asked to move that debris to the edge of the closest county right-of-way.
The Greene County Council approved the use of $150,000.00 from Rainy Day Funds for tornado cleanup from the May 16, 2025, tornado damage in Greene County. The Greene County Commissioners negotiated roll-off and removal service with Republic Services to allow for the collection and removal of construction debris.
The county cannot enter private property to remove debris, for liability reasons and to preserve reimbursement opportunities, because if reimbursement becomes possible, reimbursement cannot take place if debris is removed directly from private property. Regardless of reimbursement, the county is committed to assisting with clean-up of construction debris and will work with citizens to provide debris removal services during the ten-day period.
