The owner of Huckleberry Hill Winery in Bloomfield and the Huckleberry Hideout Restaurant and Winery in Linton has been arrested then released after posting bond, retained two defense attorneys from Bloomington, and waived her initial hearing.

Cheryl Ann Riddle, 53, Linton, was taken into custody on a warrant issued on preliminary charges of manufacturing alcoholic beverages without a permit, selling alcoholic beverages without a permit and three other felony and misdemeanor counts.

The warrant was issued as a result of an ongoing investigation by Indiana State Excise Police.

She was arrested and booked in to the Greene County Jail at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday, August 22.

The day before her arrest, on Tuesday, August 21, two attorneys filed their appearances in the case.

One lead defense attorney, D. Michael Allen, and an assisting attorney, Daniel Adam Dixon, both from Mallor Grodner LLP in Bloomington, have been retained to represent Riddle.

Greene County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Keven McIntosh is prosecuting the case for the State.

Riddle’s bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $400 cash, was released on bond on the same day as her arrest, and she was given a court date of Monday, August 27, for her initial hearing.

On Thursday, August 23, the defense waived the initial hearing, entered a plea of not-guilty and requested a jury trial.

It’s expected that the initial hearing on August 27 will be vacated and the court will schedule other dates for hearings and a jury trial.
