Gavin Williams Keith Arney, 24, Bloomington, was booked into the Greene County Jail late last Friday morning, April 23, after he was transferred in from another detention facility in another county.

A warrant was issued for Arney’s arrest back on February 1, but not long after, Arney ended up in the Lawrence County Jail. In late February, the warrant was served to him in jail then last week he was transported to Greene County to face charges here.

The warrant was issued after an investigation by Deputy Michael Stanley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department into a domestic incident that occurred on East Tulip Road in the Solsberry area on January 12.

Deputy Stanley was dispatched around 10:15 that night and talked to a woman who said her brother, Arney, had come to the residence where she lived with her mother, even though Arney has been trespassed from the property. Arney allegedly started bullying the mother then when the woman stood up to him, Arney pushed and shoved her down a hallway. The woman was able to push Arney out of the house. Arney had acquired the keys to a truck while in the house and he left in the truck without permission.

The truck was reported as stolen, entered into the statewide IDACS system and law enforcement in Monroe County was notified that Arney and the truck might be headed their way.

Later, an officer from the Bloomington Police Department called Greene County Dispatch to notify GCSD that the truck was found at the intersection of Illinois and 11th streets in Bloomington. It was returned to the owner.

Now that Arney has been to Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing, he has been charged with:

  • Theft – value of property is between $750 and $50,000, a Level 6 felony,

  • Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor.
