A rural Bloomfield man taken into custody last Saturday is facing some serious felonies after a GCSD investigation into accusations of several inappropriate sexual encounters with a 13-year-old victim.
Alexander Brian Porter
Alexander “Alex” Brian Porter, 21, of rural Bloomfield, was arrested by Detective David Elmore of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Saturday night, April 24, following an investigation by Det. Elmore into an alleged sexual relationship between Porter and a 13-year-old juvenile.
Det. Elmore conducted numerous interviews Wednesday through Saturday last week, with the alleged victim, their parents, other family members, another individual the victim confided in and another friend that a family member confided in. A forensic interview was also conducted with the victim at Susie’s Place in Bloomington.
During the various interviews, Det. Elmore was told that Porter had been in a sexual relationship with a 13-year old, that it lasted over a period of three to four weeks and occurred in approximately January or February.
The incidents were said to occur at the home of a boyfriend/girlfriend couple when the victim was visiting there and so was Porter. The victim was related to the boyfriend and Porter was related to the girlfriend.
One of the witnesses said the relationship started when the victim told Porter they had feelings for him and he responded by saying he had feelings for them as well. A number of inappropriate sexual activities allegedly followed until the victim ended the relationship after they got “caught” by a family member and the victim confided in the witness that they realized Porter only wanted them for sexual favors.
Det. Elmore’s investigation led to an interview with Porter last Saturday afternoon at the sheriff’s department. According to Det. Elmore, Porter admitted he knew the victim was only 13 years old and he knew it was wrong but he was infatuated and cared for the victim. Porter allegedly confirmed the allegations by the victim and witnesses and admitted to various sexual encounters and actions, and he admitted to sending and receiving intimate pictures of himself and the victim and to sending and receiving videos taken when they each were involved in solitary sex acts.
Following the interview, Porter was booked into the Greene County Jail at 7:41 p.m. His bond was set at $135,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late Tuesday, he has not posted bond.
Porter has retained an Indianapolis attorney to represent him but the date of his initial hearing in Greene Superior Court is not yet known.
Porter is being charged with:
Two counts of child molesting. Both are a Level 1 felony.
Two counts of child molesting. Both are a Level 4 felony.
Child solicitation for sexual conduct, a Level 5 felony.
Vicarious sexual gratification – victim under 16 years but older than 13 years, a Level 5 felony.
