Bloomfield man facing Level 5 felony for driving with lifetime suspension
/A Bloomfield man is accused of driving even though his license was suspended for life for being an habitual traffic violator. It’s a Level 5 felony.
Michael Lee Veatch, 65, Bloomfield, was arrested by Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, May 14.
Sgt. Allor was eastbound on State Road 54 east of Bloomfield around 5 p.m. on Friday, May 14, traveling directly behind a silver 2002 Cadillac Deville. When he checked records, he discovered the vehicle was registered to Michael Veatch but Veatch’s driver’s license status was that he was an habitual traffic violator and his license was suspended for life.
Veatch was the driver and during a traffic stop on SR 54 at J.L. Wilson Road, he admitted he knew his license was suspended. He had a state identification card.
During an inventory before Veatch’s vehicle was towed, GCSD Deputy Michael Coy reported finding green plant material believed to be marijuana in the center console. When asked, Veatch allegedly admitted he had a couple of “joints” in the car.
Veatch was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5:31 p.m. with bond set at $4,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $450 and was released later the same day.
Veatch’s initial hearing is set for Thursday morning, May 27.
He’s facing charges of operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life, a Level 5 felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
