Bloomfield man faces felony domestic battery charges following reported family disturbance
/A Bloomfield man faces felony domestic battery charges following a reported disturbance Sunday afternoon that allegedly involved two victims — one adult and one juvenile.
Joshua T. Hannon, 40, of Bloomfield, was arrested June 21 after Greene County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a domestic incident on Harv-Wright Road. According to court records, Hannon faces two counts of domestic battery, including a Level 5 felony and a Level 6 felony, based on prior battery-related convictions.
According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies were dispatched after a caller reported hearing screaming and statements that a woman was being assaulted. By the time deputies arrived, the alleged victims had left the residence and were at a family member's home.
Investigators spoke with the adult victim and juvenile victim, who both described an altercation that allegedly began after Hannon had been drinking and became upset. The juvenile victim told deputies he attempted to intervene after Hannon allegedly threw objects toward the adult victim. Court documents state the juvenile reported being thrown to the ground and placed in a headlock during the confrontation. Deputies observed a torn shirt, a scrape on the teen's shoulder, and a scratch on his neck.
The adult victim told deputies she was struck in the back of the head by an object while attempting to leave the residence with the juvenile victim. She said the impact caused her to fall. She also reported that the juvenile victim stepped between her and Hannon before the physical altercation occurred.
According to the affidavit, both victims were eventually able to retreat to a bathroom and contact family members for help.
When deputies later made contact with Hannon at the residence, they reported he appeared heavily intoxicated, was holding a partially empty bottle of vodka, and was unsteady on his feet. Court documents state Hannon declined to speak with law enforcement and shut the door after officers arrived.
The affidavit notes that investigators identified a prior domestic battery conviction which elevated the current allegations to felony offenses.
Hannon was transported to Greene County Jail, where he was held without bond.
He’s scheduled to appear in Greene Circuit Court on June 23 for an initial hearing.
