Bloomfield man accused of punching woman in the head multiple times

Allegedly striking a female in the back of the head and resisting law enforcement landed a 41-year-old Bloomfield man behind bars on April 25.

Leroy Walter Frazier III was arrested by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Caleb Sipes on charges of domestic battery with a previous conviction of battery and resisting law enforcement. 

A caller contacted Greene County Dispatch in regard to a domestic situation. When Deputy Sipes and Sgt. Jordan Allor arrived on scene, the witness told them the victim asked her to call 911. The witness said she did not see Frazier strike the victim but alleged she saw his hands in her face. 

While interviewing the victim, Deputy Sipes wrote in the probable cause affidavit she had a red mark on the right side of her cheek near her eye. She complained of pain in her right hand as she said she placed it over her face to block Frazier’s punches. She alleged he hit her with a closed fist but she was unsure which hand he hit her with. The victim advised she did not need an ambulance. 

When speaking with the victim about what had occurred before the alleged battery, she said they had been in their vehicle. According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim advised Frazier struck her in the back of her head while she was driving. She alleged Frazier pushed his foot onto her foot to keep pressure on the gas pedal to essentially make her keep driving.  

The victim stated that while in the vehicle, Frazier hit her in the head near the intersection of West Mechanic Street and South Seminary Street. According to the probable cause affidavit, she said she continued into the parking lot of the Mechanic Street Apartments and told him not to hit her again. The victim alleged he then began “pounding me in the back of the head”. The victim told officers Frazier hit her approximately five times and said he “hit me hard enough to loosen my dentures”.

Deputy Sipes spoke to Frazier about the incident. Frazier alleged when returning to the apartments, the victim “cracked him” and pointed to the center of his face. According to the probable cause affidavit, he said she struck him after he “mushed her in the side of her face”. While explaining this to officers, he swung his right arm across his body demonstrating an open-hand shove. According to the probable cause, Frazier told Deputy Sipes, “I shouldn’t have. I was wrong. It scared me what I did.” Frazier allegedly admitted to pushing the victim in the back of the head while in the car, saying he was frustrated because she wasn’t paying attention to him.

As Deputy Sipes began escorting Frazier to his patrol vehicle, he began pulling away from the officer. Frazier allegedly continued to pull away from Deputy Sipes even after several commands to stop. Consequently, Sgt. Allor escorted Frazier to the ground. While on the ground, Frazier continued to resist, according to the probable cause affidavit. Frazier was commanded to stop resisting and eventually complied. Deputies Zachary Goad and Michael Coy arrived on scene and assisted. 

Frazier was transported to Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $11,000 surety with 10% allowed.
