/A Bloomfield man accused of touching a woman he didn't know and making an inappropriate sexual comment to her is facing a charge of battery.
David Lee Bowersock, 58, Bloomfield, is being summoned into court for an initial hearing on a charge of battery, a Class B misdemeanor, following an investigation conducted by Master Trooper John Yung of the Indiana State Police.
Around 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 11, Trooper Yung was called in by Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw to investigate an incident that occurred at the Bloomfield Hardware Store in Bloomfield. By 2:00 PM, Trooper Yung was at the store where he talked to a witness who did not directly see the incident but had confronted the subject, identified as Bowersock, who allegedly admitted he touched a female employee on the head and had apologized to her.
Trooper Yung then interviewed the alleged victim who explained that she did not know the man but she was helping him and another man with matching a stain to a piece of flooring. She said when she stooped down and was looking at the various stains on the lower counters, she was about eye level with the man's crotch and she asked to see the man's “wood.” She said the man jokingly said, “Yeah you can see my “wood,” and he touched her on the head simulating an oral sex encounter. She said she told the man to stop and said it wasn't funny then reported the incident to the witness who confronted Bowersock.
Trooper Yung then interviewed Bowersock on Tuesday, January 17. Bowersock identified the man he was with when the incident occurred and also said he did not know the female employee who was assisting them. According to Trooper Yung, Bowersock admitted to barely touching the victim's hair on the top of her head after she asked to see his “wood” and he did so in a joking manner and later apologized to her.
The next day Trooper Yung interviewed the man who was with Bowersock who confirmed that Bowersock had touched the victim in an inappropriate manner that was initially intended as a joke.
The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office filed a criminal case against Bowersock on January 23 and a summons was issued ordering Bowersock to appear in court on March 2 when he will be facing a charge of battery, a Class B misdemeanor.
