Violet May Thompson

Violet May Thompson, of Sullivan, Indiana, formerly of Linton and Michigan, went to Heaven with loved ones by her side, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan, on Saturday, October 15, 2022. She was born on December 16, 1932 in Linton to Jessie Blume and Elsie (Weddle) Collins.

Violet married Wendell Ladson on February 6, 1970 and then after his passing she married Joseph C. Thompson on April 17, 1974.

Violet was a member of the American Legion Post #22 Ladies Auxiliary, Worthington VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Loyal Order of the Moose. She retired in 1984 from Keller Aluminum Chair Factory. Violet always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.

Family left to cherish the memory of Violet include: two daughters, Rita (Ken) Diehl of Michigan and Teressa Jo (Rick) Page of Linton; grandchildren, April Fifer, Wendy Schick, Paul Chapman, John Yoder, Kaleb Hall, Lacey Peach, Levi Hall, Kelsea Nichols, Mindy Brown and Eric Page; step-sons, Bobby Joe Thompson, Rick Thompson and David Thompson; twenty-six great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Don ‘Doc’ Henderson.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Wendell Ladson and Joseph C. Thompson.

Funeral services to honor the life of Violet will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with her grandsons, Pastor Paul Chapman and Pastor Kaleb Hall officiating. Violet will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requested that memorial contributions be made to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, c/o Anderson-Poindexter Funeral Home, 89 C St. NW, Linton, IN 47441. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
