Rev. Robert “Bob” G. Frields
/Rev. Robert “Bob” G. Frields, 93, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Glenburn Home, Linton, Indiana. He was born on July 19, 1929, in Evansville, Indiana to Hugh E. and Helen V. (Daugherty) Frields.
Robert married Beverly (Scales) on April 9, 1955, and Lillian “Betty” (Stockey) on August 29, 1981. Bob was known by many and touched the lives of all who encountered him. Bob was a US Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Linton First United Methodist Church, Linton American Legion Post #22, Life Member VFW Post #1114 of Evansville and a Life Member Optimist Club Indiana South District. Bob was a Certified Master Gardner and loved growing all things. Bob worked various jobs until 1979 when he started employment with Gibson Generating Station (Duke Energy) also served with the speakers’ bureau there. Upon retirement he went into the ministry serving for 21 years with the United Methodist Church, retiring in 2012.
Family left to cherish the memory of Bob include: one brother, Carroll (Genia) Frields of Chrisney, IN; one son, Tim (Katrina) Frields of Tuplo, MS; one daughter, Linda (Tom) Summerlin of Avon; stepchildren, Dusty (Lynn) Miller of Nashville, TN, Becky Sluder of Evansville, Mark (Debbie) Schulze of Evansville. five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife. Beverly (Scales); his second wife. Elizabeth “Betty” (Stockey); stepdaughter Sherry McBride and step grandchild Walda.
Funeral services to honor the life of Robert will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pastor Ben Biggs officiating. Military honors will be on the front lawn at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Evansville at a later date. Family and friends may call from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Saturday September 10, 2022, at the funeral home. The family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Linton First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
