Rea N. Anthony

Rea N. Anthony, born December 16, 1941, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.  She left this world suddenly on October 17, 2022 at her home in Jasonville, Indiana.

Rea graduated from Coalmont High School in 1959 and while raising a family, continued her education at Indiana State University.  She had a fulfilling career as a teacher at Shakamak School Corporation.  While there, she developed, grew and coached for 10 years the middle school girls’ sports program.  She taught Home Economics, Consumer Education and felt driven to focus on teaching life skills.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars serving as an Indiana Grand Star Point.  She was a member of Shakamak Community Church and Delta Theta Tau sorority.  Rea loved her home in Florida and the community there.  She spent many hours volunteering at Catholic Charity thrift stores in her Florida neighborhood.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, playing cards and teaching/playing Mahjong.  She also enjoyed traveling by land, air and sea – especially by sea – and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mildred (Cox) Clark and daughters Cami Rookstool and Chére Anthony.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Earl W. Anthony, Jr., daughters Cara Anthony (Ken Wiebe), Amber Anthony-Mauck (Roger Mauck), 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, brother Robert (Carol) Ransford and 11 nieces and nephews.

Rea will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  She was a compassionate and caring friend and always had a positive outlook and a can-do attitude.  She was never happier than when all her daughters and their families would visit for a mini-Anthony reunion. Rea was a member of American Legion Aux. Unit 172 in Jasonville, IN.

A Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers/gifts, donations may be made to the Jasonville Public Library, 611 West Main St., PO Box 105, Jasonville IN  47438.
