Michael Jay Blanton, age 63, of Loogootee, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Linton, IN on January 26, 1959, the son of Gerald & Joanne (Colvin) Blanton.

He was a graduate of Linton-Stockton High School and received his Associate”s Degree from Ivy Tech Community College. He worked as a butcher for several years at several different grocery stores. He enjoyed fishing and driving his cars. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Jay is survived by his loving fiancé, Carole Strange of Loogootee; children, Bradlee Blanton of Sandborn, Benjamin Blanton of Bicknell, Kyanna (Wade) Arvin of Loogootee and Trista (Kandice) Strange of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Dainielle Blanton; grandchildren, Destiny Blanton, Gage Blanton, Skylyr Raney, Kori Arvin, Kaia Arvin, Kross Arvin and Kaidence Coleman; sister, Sue Ann (John) Preble of Linton; nieces, Emilee (Drea) Preble and Julie Marie (Nick) Jackson as well as a great nephew, Duncan Schmidt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Brandon Blanton.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Friday, August 26, 2022, with Pastor Nick Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
