Jackie Lynn Harris
/Jackie Lynn Harris, 86, of Jasonville, passed away peacefully at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Serenity Springs Nursing Home.
She was born on September 2, 1939, in Worthington, Indiana, to Albert Martin Haviland and Carrie Edith (Slough) Haviland.
Jackie devoted her life to caring for others. As a homemaker, she created a home filled with love, kindness, and unwavering support for her family. She also opened her heart to countless children through her family's daycare, treating each one with patience, compassion, and the same love she gave her own family. To Jackie, caring for others was never just something she did, it was simply who she was.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially reading, crocheting, and embroidery. Whether she was making something by hand, sharing a story, or offering a listening ear, Jackie had a special way of making people feel welcome, loved, and valued. Her greatest pride was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the kind of grandma who made everyone feel like they belonged, and her gentle spirit and generous heart will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her son, Randall (Janet) Harris; her grandchildren, Jennifer Harris-Hart and Joshua (Alexandria) Harris; her great-grandchildren, Wavorly Harris, Isaiah Harris, and Elijah Hart; her brother, Warren (Gayle) Haviland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Max L. Harris; and her sister, Anne Haviland.
A graveside service to celebrate Jackie's life will be held Worthington Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Everyone is welcome.
