Jack Earl Sperling, Jr.

Jack Earl Sperling, Jr., 70, of Linton, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026. Born May 3, 1955, in Indianapolis to Jack Earl Sperling, Sr. and Patricia (Foddrill) Sperling, Jack lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys around him.

Jack worked at Keller Aluminum in Linton for 25 years, and then worked at Boston Scientific for 20 years until his retirement.

His love for the outdoors began early. Whether he was casting a line into a still lake, walking the woods in search of mushrooms, or spending a sunny day boating, Jack found peace in nature. He had an easy way about him that drew others in - always quick with a laugh, a story, or a helping hand.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jack rarely missed an Indiana University game. His friends and family could always count on hearing his spirited commentary come basketball or football season, often accompanied by a good-natured debate or two. Off the field, his competitive streak showed up just as often on the basketball court, where he loved a friendly game that might last long into the evening.

Family was at the heart of everything Jack did. He was a devoted brother to Loanna Heacock, Marlene Scharbrough, Danny Sperling, Randy Sperling, and Bob Sperling. His nieces and nephews - along with their children - brought him immense pride and joy. They'll remember "Uncle Jack" for his humor and generosity.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike Sperling; and a sister, Debbie Glassco. Though he will be greatly missed, his stories, laughter, and love will live on through the many lives he touched.

A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Linton. Arrangements are entrusted to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home of Walton Funeral Service.
