Jack B. Jones, Sr.
/Jack B. Jones, Sr. age 81, of Linton, went to be with his Lord at 9:45 P.M. on Monday, August 19, 2019, at Spring Mill Meadows in Indianapolis. He was born in Bloomfield on September 16, 1937, the son of Loren & Bula (Dixon) Jones.
Jack was a graduate of Linton High School and served with the Army National Guard. Jack retired as an electrician after a lifetime of work at General Electric. Following his retirement with GE, Jack worked with Lewellyn Technology.
Jack was a member of Linton First Baptist Church for all of his adult life. He enjoyed foremost serving the Lord by teaching and other work at the church. In fact, he had a small business working on electronic church organs, believing in the importance of music in praise. He was an electrician and largely self-taught electronics expert. He enjoyed creating experiments such as building a computer in the early 1960's and duplicating Tesla Coils as demonstration and teaching opportunities in public schools. It's unknown if he was a member of any secret societies.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Margaret A. (Vaughn) Jones of Linton, his three sons, Jack (Melinda) Jones, Jr. of Indianapolis, Barry (Cheryl) Jones of Kokomo, and Eric Jones of O'Fallon, IL, two brothers, Jerry Jones of Indianapolis and Jeff (Nancy) Jones of Bangor, Maine, grandchildren, Jack (Sarah) Jones, III, Andrew (Sarah) Jones, Alycia (Michael) Hatfield, Ashlyn Jones, Alex Jones, Delfred Jones, Loren Jones, and Erica Jones, and five great-grandchildren, Kaki, Rachel, Andrew, Jr., JP, and Nakita.
He was preceded by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at Linton First Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, with Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5-7 P.M., and Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Open Doors or Samaritan's Purse, through the funeral home.
