Fred Spinks

Fred Eugene Spinks, age 62, of Linton, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.  He was born in Linton on October 28, 1956, the son of Fred Mason and Helen (Canada) Spinks.  

Fred was a 1974 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School.  Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy.  He attended Indiana University following his time in the military.  

After thirty years of work with Indiana Bell, he retired from AT & T at age 50.  He worked ten years at the Indiana Railroad in transportation until his retirement in November 2018.  He owned and operated Old Man Outdoors in Linton.  

Fred was a member of the American Legion #22 in Linton.  He served our community for ten years as a member of the Linton-Stockton School Board.

He was an avid Linton Miner Fan, loved hunting, fishing, gardening, hobby farming and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of ten years, Nina (Alexander) Spinks of Linton, his five children, Hollie (Jeremy) Pappano of Edinburgh, Toni Allen of Linton, Steele (Amy) Spinks of Linton, Nikki (Tario) Frederick of Franklin, and Kyndal (Colby) Davis of Sullivan, fourteen grandchildren,  and three sisters, Pam (Roger) Spell of Greensboro, NC, Kathy (Greg) Franklin of Linton, and Debbie Spinks of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a step-son, Landon Vaughn.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Linton, with military rites presented by the American Legion of Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 P.M., and Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
