Dorothy Carpenter
/Dorothy Carpenter, age 98, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 5:45 P.M. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Glenburn Home in Linton. She was born in Linton on March 22, 1923, the daughter of Sherman O. and Nona E. (Perigo) Wright.
Dorothy was a 1940 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School and married the love of her life, Thomas L. Carpenter, on December 24, 1943. She was a homemaker and spent the majority of her life as a volunteer to help others. Dorothy had the ability to recognize a need and do something to help. She was a volunteer for many years as a pink lady for the Ladies Auxiliary at Freeman Greene-County Hospital and Greene County General Hospital where she held every office and many times led in volunteer hours.
She enjoyed helping in church, providing music for revivals, playing the piano and singing with her husband. She also enjoyed mission work, reading, and loved to travel. She visited all 50 states and also traveled out of country to Australia, New Zeland, Mexico, Canada, and Fiji. She attended Linton First Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon K. Dyer of Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas L. Carpenter in 1974, her son-in-law, John A. Dyer in 2017, two brothers, Harold R. and Paul L. Wright, and a sister, Algia Doris Wright.
Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, with her great-nephew, Pastor Brian Vickers officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of service.
