Barbara Jo (Mitchell) Scott

Barbara Jo (Mitchell) Scott, 88, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 7 P.M. Sunday, March 13, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 16, 1933 in Greene County, IN to Lystra Durrell “Tubby” Mitchell and Hazel (Gambill) Mitchell.

Barbara married Wayne Scott on April 20, 1953, he passed away on February 20, 2010.

Survivors include her children, Kenny Scott (Anita) of Linton, IN, Karen Bays (Randy) of Zionsville, IN, Donnie Scott of Jasonville, IN, David Scott of Jasonville, IN; 8 – grandchildren;19 –  great-grandchildren;      2 – great-great grandchildren; siblings, Patsy Hill (Jerry) of Jasonville, IN, Beverley Brashear of Linton, IN, Sharon West (Donny) of Indianapolis, IN, Tom Mitchell (Shelia) of Black Hawk, IN, Bob Mitchell (Jaquies) of Jasonville, IN, Jim Mitchell of Jasonville, IN; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; sister in-laws, Beverly Scott of Jasonville, IN, Elaine Harper (Max) of Marion, IN

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gerald “Gary” Scott’ sisters, Shirley Sapp (Bill), June Shacklett (Brian),; brother, Jerry Mitchell; brother in-law, David Brashear.

Barbara Graduated Midland High School Class of 1951. She later graduated ISU with a Masters Degree, teaching at Shakamak Elementary for 23 years. Barbara was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and served as pianist and organist for 61 years. She enjoyed reading books and loved collecting pictures of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved the time she spent with her family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the Funeral Home and 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. Thursday, March 17, 2022, services are immediately following at 1 P.M.   with Pastor Mike Rotman officiating.

Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
