Donald Wayne Hendrix
/Donald Wayne Hendrix, 88, of Bloomfield passed away on April 19, 2026 at Ketchem Memorial Center.
Born September 6, 1937 in Mount Vernon, Indiana the son of David and Ethel Pearl (Jackson) Hendrix.
Don graduated from Mt. Vernon High School where he played basketball and ran track, he served as a deputy for the Posey County Sherriff in the late 1950’s, as an apprentice Electrician for Oscar D. Keck in Mt. Vernon and worked as an Electrician for Pioneer Seed Corn in Mt. Vernon and Worthington from 1965 to 1998. For Pioneer, he traveled to start up new plants in Rushville, Tipton, Plymouth, and Flora, Indiana, as well as Laurenburg, NC., and Constantine, MI. Don was a member of the Bloomfield First Baptist Church, were he served as a deacon and trustee.
Don had horses in his younger years and enjoyed boating on the Ohio River, Boggs Lake and Lake Monroe in Indiana, and Lake Barkley in Kentucky. More recently he was devoted to faithful dogs Sophie, Peanut and Moo.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Virginia (Donner) Hendrix, married November 16, 1957; having 68 years of marriage, one son, Timothy (Melinda) Hendrix, his grandchildren, Kayla Kristine Hendrix (Kortnie) of Bloomfield, Eric David Hendrix (Trenten Rowlett) of Bloomington, he has six great grandchildren, one brother, Jimmy Hendrix (Connie) of Port St. Lucie, Fl., and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by siblings, Glenda (Bill) Gibson, Ronnie (Linda) Hendrix and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am on Wednesday April 22, 2026 until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Jenkins Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
