Carolyn Sue Butz

Carolyn Sue Butz, 84, of Newberry, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington.

Born July 29, 1941 in Newberry, she was the daughter of Carol Ivan and Ruth Evelyn (Sipes) Malone.

She retired from NSWC Crane and was a member of the Newberry Christian Church.

Surviving relatives include: one son, Tony Butz (Pamela) of Bloomington; her grandchildren, Michelle Garvin (John Martin) of Bloomington, Tony Pulliam (Jennifer) of Bloomington and Troy Pulliam (Michelle) of Ofallon, Illinois; nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and one on the way; her two sisters, Anita Jane Howard (Jim) and Jessica Lynn Dimmett (Dan) and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Butz on January 16, 2021, one brother, Jimmy Lee Malone, two sisters, Judy Mae Elkins and Wilma Jean Wininger and her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Newberry Cornerstone Church, with Rev. Jim Roach officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons.

Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Newberry Cornerstone Church.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Newberry Cornerstone Church.
