Charles B. Montgomery
/Charles B. Montgomery, Chuck to all those that knew him, passed away at Union Hospital on Saturday, February 28, 2026, surrounded by family.
Chuck retired from American General Life Insurance company in 2018 and previously worked for Western Southern Life Insurance company for 25 years. His successful career span over 50-year in selling life insurance.
After retirement, he couldn't sit still and began driving a medi-cab to help fill his free time. This is where he met Donna and began courting her for 2 years before marrying her on February 14, 2020.
He was a devoted husband and father that was always willing to sacrifice his own wants and desires to put his family first. He showed his love by acts of service to those closest to him. Chuck was known for his quick wittedness and quirky sense of humor that gave him the ability to make anyone laugh. He was able to tell a story in a way that could captivate people of all ages.
His hobbies were enjoying auto shows, bird watching, star gazing and taking extended drives. Chuck was always up for an adventure to go new places and see new things. He and Donna both enjoyed volunteering at the Linton Community Food Pantry. He was a member of Faithway Bible Church in Worthington, Indiana.
His presence will be missed by all that new him, but the mark he left on the world will not be forgotten.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Donna Montgomery; daughters, Kathleen Brown, Leah Copas; sons, Chad Montgomery (wife Heidi) and Matthew Montgomery (wife Catrina); bonus daughter, Erin Owen; and stepdaughters, Karen White and Kathy Deal (husband Mark). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tiffany, Leah Jo, Jacob, Corey, Ryan, Madelyn, Tyler, Elizabeth, Dylan, July, and Eli; and great-grandchildren, Natalee, Malcolm, and Eloise; nine step-grandchildren, Christopher, Staci, Anna, Rebekah, Holly, Christina, Buddy, William, and Mikel.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Joshua Brown; stepson, Ronnie Dicus; wife, Jackie Montgomery; and daughter, Joy Owen.
A funeral service to celebrate Chuck's life will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, of Walton Funeral Service, at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, with Pastor Terry Dowell and Matt Montgomery officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM until the time of service.
A graveside service will be held at Linden Cemetery in Linden, Indiana at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2026 with Matt Montgomery officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Chuck's behalf to the Linton Community Food Pantry, through the funeral home.
