Betty L. Key, age 88, of Worthington, passed away 3:57 A.M. on Friday, August 23, 2019 at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on May 5, 1931, the daughter of Garrett & Sylvia (Beal) Fulford.

Betty was married to Phillip Key at the age of 16. They raised four children and fostered over 100 children, mostly all under the age of 5. She spent most of her life as a homemaker in Worthington, and later in years moved to Florida, living there for fourteen years. While in Florida, she enjoyed surf fishing. Betty and Phillip moved back to Worthington around 2004, and spent the remainder of their retirement years in Indiana.

She enjoyed baking, playing euchre, scrabble, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Jill) Key of Hartsville, TN, two daughters, Lisa (Terry Koons) Racine of Worthington and Mary Ann Key of Spencer, a brother, Jack (Brenda) Fulford of Worthington, eight grandchildren, Nikki Scheerer, Brentt Skinner, Jilana Golliver, Darren Key, Jessica Wills, Trevor Pattillo, and Nathan Racine, 7 great-grandchildren, Trenton, Noah, Madison, Kyler, Zoie, Wyatt, Collin, and Marlayna, and one great-great granddaughter, Jackie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Phillip Key, two daughters, Debra Susan and Sanfra Lynn Key, and a brother, Rex Fulford.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, with Chris Gehring officiating. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 P.M., and Tuesday from 9 A.M. until the time of service.
