New entries on the morning Jail Log at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026:

Aug. 7, Carl Russell Compton, 33, homeless, was arrested on a warrant for interfering with public safety. His bond was set at $5,000 surety with 10% cash allowed. 

Aug. 7, 11:40 a.m., Melissa Kay White, 49, Terre Haute, was arrested on a warrant for criminal recklessness and battery committed with a deadly weapon. No bond was allowed. 

Aug. 8, 6:12 a.m., Derek Eugene Weir, 39, Shelburn, was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. His bond was st at $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He was released after posting $400.

Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Individuals are booked into jail on warrants issued by courts or on “preliminary charges” based on recommendations of investigating or arresting officers. Charges may change when a new case is filed in court by the prosecutor who reviews the case and makes the charging decision.
