Worthington man accused of stashing meth pipes in his socks and a syringe in his pocket
/When the WPD arrested a Worthington man last Friday, an officer said they found a meth pipe in his left sock, one in his right sock, and a syringe in his pocket.
Ricky Lee Cain, 41, Worthington, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Ryan Montgomery of the Worthington Police Department last Friday afternoon, September 3.
Officer Montgomery was headed east on Union Valley Road around 2:30 p.m. last Friday, behind a silver 2007 Chevrolet Malibu car with expired plates. He initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Union Valley and State Road 157.
Joseph Kenneth Myers was the driver. Ricky Lee Cain was a passenger.
WPD Reserve Officer David Sparks responded to assist on the scene and Marshal James Harrington of the Cynthiana Marshal’s Office, along with his K9 partner Deny, were also summoned to assist on the scene because Officer Montgomery believed there was probable cause to ask for the assistance of a K9. At that time, Marshal Harrington and K9 Deny were nearby in Worthington. Later during the stop, WPD Marshal Jim O’Malley and Deputy Marshal Heather Wood also arrived to assist on the scene.
After Marshal Harrington deployed K9 Deny, he reported the K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle.
Officer Montgomery reported that during a search of the vehicle, officers found two syringes in a black bag on the front passenger floorboard – they field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
During initial interviews, Myers said the syringes belonged to Cain and Cain allegedly admitted they belonged to him.
When Cain was taken into custody, he was allegedly found with a glass smoking device with burnt residue in his left sock and another glass smoking device with burnt residue in his right sock, and a capped syringe in a pocket.
Cain was booked into the Greene County Jail at 4:30 p.m. He was being held without bond pending court appearance – a date for his initial hearing in Greene Superior Court has not yet been set.
Cain is being charged with:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
Cain has another case pending against him in Greene Circuit Court – also involving possession of methamphetamine.
