Tina Loraine Hauger, 38, of Jasonville, was arrested on Monday, June 10, by Jasonville Police Officer Jacob Gambill when Officer Gambill was dispatched to the scene of a domestic dispute that had gotten physical and was in progress on South Levy Street in Jasonville.

When Officer Gambill arrived at the residence, a man was walking towards him in the roadway. The man was told to keep his hands out of his pocket but he did not comply so he was detained for officer safety.

Gambill then went on to talk to Tina Hauger who told him an altercation had taken place over items being moved that belonged to a deceased family member. Hauger allegedly said the argument escalated and the man had punched her in the face. She also said her daughter had come in to the kitchen to defend her and that the man had also pushed the daughter and pulled her hair. The daughter allegedly told the officer the same story.

Gambill reported that when he started talking to the women, the daughter was complaining of pain in her face and feeling dizzy so an ambulance was dispatched to check on her.

After getting their stories, Gambill then returned to talk to the man who said Hauger’s injuries to her face were self-inflicted and he said he had taken videos of the altercation on his phone. He gave the phone and the password to Officer Gambill and gave permission for the officer to look at the video.

Gambill reported when he watched the video, he saw Hauger punch herself repeatedly in the face in a very violent manner. The man then explained that after Hauger punched herself, she grabbed a hammer and hit him on the elbow and wrist. The man said he was trying to move away when the daughter entered and tackled him up against a door and he pushed back while trying to get away. Gambill took photos of his injuries.

The daughter was transported by ambulance to Sullivan County Community Hospital for evaluation and Hauger and other family members followed the ambulance to the hospital.

After they left, the man gathered some belongings and went to stay with a friend while the officer collected the hammer for evidence.

Officer Gambill then traveled to the hospital where Hauger was arrested then transported to the Greene County Jail.

Last week, Hauger appeared in Greene Circuit Court where she was formally charged with:

  • Battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony.

  • False informing – gives a false report of a crime, a Class B misdemeanor.

Hauger’s bond was set at $10,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late Monday, June 17, she had not yet posted bond and remained in jail.
