Woman accused of barging into a home with a shotgun in hand
/A woman who allegedly barged in a home with a shotgun in her hand earlier this month has been charged with two felonies - residential entry and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
Misty Marie Lee, 40, Bloomington, was arrested by Deputy Michael Coy of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department very early on Friday, March 6. After she was booked into the Greene County Jail before 3:30 a.m., her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $400 and has since been released.
When she appeared in Greene Circuit Court last Thursday, March 12, for her initial hearing, she was formally charged with residential entry – breaking and entering a dwelling, a Level 6 felony, and intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony.
Deputy Coy, the investigating officer, and Deputy Davis Aerne were dispatched to a residence on McCullough Lane in rural Bloomfield after a caller reported Lee had entered a home with a shotgun and taken a juvenile from the property.
When the deputies arrived around 1:40 a.m., they talked to more than one resident as well as a juvenile who explained Lee barged in with a shotgun in hand saying she was going to pick up another juvenile who was there to take him to his guardians. That juvenile did leave when Lee left.
By 2:40 a.m., the deputies were meeting with a Monroe County deputy to take custody of Lee who said she knocked on the door and the door opened on its own and the door knob fell off. When questioned about the shotgun, she allegedly said “What shotgun?” then said it was for her protection and was not loaded.
According to court records, Lee has retained a defense attorney from Indianapolis.
