Warrant issued for Solsberry man who slipped away from work release
A Solsberry man who was on work release is accused of removing his GPS ankle bracelet at his workplace on Monday and not returning to the work release center. His whereabouts are unknown. A warrant for his arrest was issued today.
Joshua Lee Corlett, 31, Solsberry, is wanted on a warrant issued today, Wednesday, September 16, on a preliminary charge of failure to return to lawful detention, a Level 6 felony.
According to Field Officer Andrew Johnson of Greene County Community Corrections, Corlett was sentenced in April of 2017 in two cases, both for burglaries as Level 4 felonies. In each case, he was sentenced to 12 years with three years suspended, to be served concurrently.
He began serving his time in the Indiana Department of Corrections, then starting in early January, 2019, Corlett’s sentence was modified to work release, then to home detention. But in late August, 2020, Greene County Community Corrections filed a petition to modify placement to the Greene County Jail due to alleged violations. That issue is still pending and on September 8, in Greene Superior Court, an order was issued for Corlett to serve on work release pending the outcome of whether his suspended sentence would be revoked or not.
So Corlett was wearing a GPS tracking device and was to travel directly to his workplace and back to the work release center without making any stops or side trips unless authorized.
Officer Johnson reported Corlett was currently working at Indiana Quarries and Carvers and on Monday, September 14, he logged out of the work release center at 4:45 a.m. but at 12:13 p.m., Officer Johnson got one alert then another that Corlett’s tracking device had been tampered with and likely removed. Officer Johnson responded immediately to the last GPS coordinates reported by the device and located the GPS unit about 40 feet from the employee parking lot at Indiana Quarries and Carvers.
Officer Johnson said Corlett did not return to the work release center at 3:45 p.m. as expected and his whereabouts are unknown.
