Wanted for obstruction of justice: Woman who failed to cooperate with Homeland Security officer
/When an officer from the Department of Homeland Security attempted to execute a search warrant for the cell phone of a Greene County woman, she tried to get away from him and escape with her phone. A warrant was issued earlier today for her arrest.
Samantha Nicole Day, 33, Jasonville, is wanted on charges of:
Obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony, and
Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resisting, a Class A misdemeanor.
Department of Homeland Security Officer Levi Sims arrived at a residence on East Sycamore Street in Jasonville around 6 P.M last Wednesday, November 9, to execute a search warrant that had been issued for Day’s cellular device.
Officer Sims reported that after talking to Day, she started to walk away and he informed her that he had a search warrant for her phone. She allegedly just continued to walk away.
Officer Sims then grabbed the phone that was in Day’s right hand which she had crossed over her body but she pulled away and broke free with the phone and headed to her vehicle.
Officer Sims grabbed her left wrist in an attempt to keep her from getting into her vehicle or escaping and she attempted to pull away from him again but as she tried to get away, Officer Sims was able to get hold of the phone without further incident.
Earlier today, the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office filed a criminal case against Day in Greene Superior Court and the court issued a warrant for Day’s arrest.
