Walker charged with disorderly conduct
/When police got a complaint about a man walking in Linton who was shouting and causing a disturbance, an officer responded and offered him a ride to his destination. The man refused and then got a ride to jail.
Jonathon Douglas Blackwell, 30, of Sandborn, was arrested by Officer Joe Riley of the Linton Police Department last Saturday night, May 18.
Officer Riley was dispatched after a caller complained that an intoxicated man with no shirt, carrying clothes, was walking on Vincennes Street, shouting and disturbing the peace.
Officer Riley located the man, Blackwell, around 8 p.m. and said when he talked to him, Blackwell became agitated and started raising his voice causing a disturbance on the sidewalk. Blackwell allegedly told the officer that he had been drinking and Riley reported he did not feel comfortable with Blackwell continuing on foot.
Riley said he asked Blackwell if he had any place to go and Blackwell said he did, but he wouldn’t let Riley take him there. Blackwell was told he needed to stop yelling or risk arrest for disorderly conduct.
Blackwell allegedly would not calm down so was taken into custody and transported to jail where he was booked in around 9 p.m. His bond was set at $500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He was released later that night after posting $50 cash.
When Blackwell appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing yesterday morning, Thursday, May 23, he was charged with disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.
