Caleb King Ramage, 38, Worthington, was arrested on a warrant issued after an investigation by then-Deputy Marshal Russell Walls of the Worthington Police Department.

Steven J. Hurst, 34, also known as “Cupcake,” Worthington, has been summoned to appear in court for an initial hearing as a result of the same investigation.

The two men were residing at a house located on North Myra Street in Worthington when Officer Walls was dispatched there to do a welfare check on a juvenile. A woman who requested the check said she had joint custody of a child with a third man who was living at the house. She said the child was staying there but she was unable to make contact with either the father or the child and she was worried.

When Officer Walls arrived, he determined three men and the juvenile were living there and he reported he could smell the odor of marijuana. While officers were inside the home, they reported seeing other indications of marijuana use in plain sight, plus the odor.

Walls applied for a search warrant and other officers arrived to assist, including GCSD Deputy Harvey Holt and WPD Reserve Deputy Marshal Green. A caseworker from the Department of Child Services also responded.

In a probable cause affidavit prepared by Officer Walls, he details a long list of items found in the rooms of Ramage and Hurst. The list is about two pages long, single-spaced, of items associated with marijuana use and/or distribution.

No record is found of charges filed against the father of the juvenile.

Ramage is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Possession of marijuana, a Level 6 felony,

  • Maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

His bond was set at $8,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $850 and was released the same day as his arrest on Tuesday, December 10. He has retained a private attorney and is scheduled to appear at an initial hearing in January.

Hurst is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor,

  • Visiting a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
