Two women arrested and charged with disorderly conduct
/Two women were arrested last Thursday after a deputy was dispatched to a fight between the two. Both bonded out of jail and both were in court this morning.
Julie Ann Key, 52, and Kimberly Renee Gray, 31, both from Springville, were arrested by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy David Elmore last Thursday.
Deputy Elmore was dispatched after a juvenile called 9-1-1 to report that her mother, Julie Key, had just been punched in the nose and she was bleeding. Dispatch was able to talk to Key who said Kimberly Gray assaulted her.
Both women lived in the same area and the fight occurred in a neighbor’s yard.
After the deputy arrived, he talked to several individuals, including the two women, two juveniles – one child of each woman – the children had witnessed the altercation, and their neighbor.
In a lengthy probable cause document prepared by Deputy Elmore, he details the stories told by all and it’s a puzzle of who said what and who threw what slaps and punches, who knocked who to the ground, and who chest bumped the other one first.
The two women had both been at a bus stop to pick their children up from school. While there, they both saw the neighbor’s child had been stopped by law enforcement at the entrance to Blue Sky North and they both went to the neighbor’s house to advise him.
And that’s where the fight started.
Deputy Elmore took pictures of the injuries suffered by both women when he interviewed them.
When he talked to the neighbor, the man said he opened his front door to see them, one standing behind the other. He said they informed him the cops had his daughter pulled over.
According to Elmore, the man said he saw Gray turn around and start towards Key and then both of them started chest bumping each other. He said he told them to stop.
One complained that the other had blocked them in the driveway but he did have a circular drive.
After he went inside to get a shirt on before going to check on his daughter, he came back outside. Elmore reported he said Gray was on the ground and Key was starting to stand up and both of them were brushing themselves off. He said Key had blood around her mouth and he asked what was going on.
According to Elmore, the man said he told both women they needed to learn to get along because they were neighbors and not to be doing this kind of stuff in front of the kids.
Elmore arrested both women. GCSD Sgt. Bobby Pierce and Deputy Heather Wood also arrived on the scene to assist, and both women were transported to jail where their bonds were set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
They have both since bonded out by posting $100 cash.
This morning, they both appeared in Greene Superior Court for initial hearings. Both were charged with disorderly conduct – engaging in fighting or tumultuous conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.
