Two transported to hospital following Thursday morning accident

Two people were transported to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning at the intersection of West State Road 54 and North County Road 250 West.

Greene County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at approximately 7:53 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s department’s preliminary investigation, a 2006 semi-tractor-trailer driven by Ronald Hollars of Bedford was stopped in traffic while waiting to turn left onto County Road 250 West.

A 2023 Kia Sorento driven by Carmen Jackson of Bloomfield was stopped behind the semi. A 2011 Dodge Durango driven by Shauna Mahurin of Oaktown failed to stop and struck the rear of the Kia, pushing it into the back of the semi-trailer, authorities said.

Jackson and Mahurin were transported by Greene County Ambulance Service to Greene County General Hospital for treatment. Information about the extent of their injuries was not released.

State Road 54 was restricted to one lane for approximately one hour while deputies investigated the crash.

Air Evac Lifeteam, Greene County Ambulance Service, Switz City Fire Department and Rusty’s Towing assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
