Christopher Eugene Walton, 48, of Linton, was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail around 10:30 p.m. by Officer John Agan of the Linton Police Department on Thursday, July 25, following a traffic stop initiated by LPD Officer Cody Burris and an investigation by LPD Officer Joe Riley.

Walton was the driver of a vehicle that was stopped in Linton that evening. After a records check, officers discovered Walton’s driver’s license had been suspended.

While waiting on a valid driver to arrive to pick up Walton’s vehicle, Walton gave consent for a search of the vehicle.

Officer Riley reported they found a silver metal tin under the radio that contained a Ziploc bag with a white crystal-like substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

When Walton appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing last week, he was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.

Walton was first held without bond pending his court appearance. During the hearing, his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $400 cash and been released from jail.
