Jayce Edward Wayne Troup, 25, Linton, was arrested on a warrant by Greene County Courthouse Security Officer Patrick Fulford on Monday, November 4.

Although Troup was just taken into custody this week, the warrant for his arrest was issued in late August for an alleged theft that occurred late last April.

The case was investigated by Officer Cody Burris of the Linton Police Department after he was dispatched to the Walmart store in Linton about a theft. When Officer Burris arrived, one of the store’s Asset Protection Associates explained the alleged incident. When Officer Burris viewed video surveillance footage, it confirmed the associate’s claim.

Officer Burris reported Troup, who was identified by the store associate, ordered chicken wings from the store’s deli then proceeded to the self-checkout lane where he scanned and paid for a few items, but not the chicken wings. Troup allegedly then left the store.

The value of the chicken wings was $3.92.

Officer Burris reported he made several attempts to contact Troup without success.

Officer Burris said Troup was convicted of theft in Greene County in April of 2016. With a previous conviction for theft, what might have been a misdemeanor gets bumped up to a felony.

Troup was booked into the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released.

When he appears in court for his initial hearing on November 18, he will be charged with theft, a Level 6 felony.
