Switz City man facing a new criminal charge
/A Switz City man, who was already in jail facing serious charges after a domestic altercation last month, is being charged in a new case alleging he battered a woman in another incident that also occurred in December.
The new criminal case was filed this week against Mark Emmett Dickinson, 40, Switz City.
Dickinson was arrested in December after deputies responded to a domestic incident that allegedly involved threats of torture, strangulation and criminal confinement.
When Dickinson appeared in court, he was charged with:
Criminal confinement, with moderate bodily injury, a Level 4 felony,
Domestic battery, with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony,
Intimidation – threat to commit a forcible felony, a Level 6 felony,
Strangulation, a Level 6 felony, and
Criminal recklessness, a Class B misdemeanor.
That case is still pending against him.
His bond was set at $25,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but he has not posted bond and has remained in jail since his December arrest.
Now another case has been filed against him. In the new case, he is facing a preliminary charge of domestic battery, with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.
The new charge stems from an incident that occurred on December 7, a few days before the other incident occurred.
Deputy Michael Stanley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the investigating officer, was dispatched along with Deputy Jordan Allor to a residence in Switz City on the report of a domestic disturbance involving the same victim as in the other case.
Deputy Stanley reported the two had been in an argument which had gotten physical and Dickinson allegedly broke the woman’s phone, dragged her by a hood on her clothing and banged her head off furniture. Photographs were taken of red marks on the woman’s neck.
After speaking to the deputies, Dickinson left the residence for the night and the woman was advised to evict him from the residence and file for a protective order.
Dickinson was not arrested that night, but after the new case was filed, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Since he’s already in jail, the warrant was served to him at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
He is facing a new charge of domestic battery, with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.
The date for his initial hearing has not yet been set.
