Suspicious woman arrested on drug charges
/A report of a suspicious female ended in the arrest of a 63-year-old Linton woman on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia after a traffic stop in Jasonville on May 30.
Jasonville Police Department Officer Skylar Scott arrested Charolett Carreen Bresach on a Class A misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance and a Class C Misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia after he was dispatched to a Jasonville gas station in regard to a suspicious female. According to the probable cause affidavit, a male reported that while in the parking lot, the female nearly struck him with her vehicle. He reported the female left the gas station traveling east on Main Street.
Officer Scott left the gas station to look for the vehicle. During that time, he received another call from dispatch in regard to the same vehicle. This time, the reporting party advised the vehicle was traveling east on Shanklin Street and was all over the road. The caller reported the vehicle had turned south onto State Road 59.
While traveling north on State Road 59, Scott observed the vehicle described by the callers traveling toward him. According to the probable cause, he began following the vehicle, which briefly crossed the center line. Scott initiated a traffic stop and advised Bresach the reason for the stop was she had been reported as a reckless driver by an individual at a local gas station. She denied stopping at the gas station, instead, she said she’d been visiting a friend in Coalmont.
When Officer Scott had Bresach exit the vehicle, according to the probable cause affidavit, he observed a dark-colored glass smoking device in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Scott asked Bresach what the pipe was for and she alleged it was used to smoke marijuana.
While searching the vehicle, Scott wrote in the probable cause affidavit that he located a clear plastic bag containing an odorless green plant-like material in the front passenger compartment of the vehicle as well as an additional glass smoking device from the center console.
Officer Scott, according to the probable cause affidavit, asked Bresach if the material in the plastic bag was spice, a synthetic drug. She allegedly initially denied it, then later admitted it was probably spice.
En route to Greene County Jail, she began complaining of chest pains and was taken to Greene County General Hospital where she was medically cleared. She was then transported to Greene County Jail. Her bond was set at $1,500 surety with 10% allowed. She was released after posting $150.
She is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on June 8.
