Springville man arrested on domestic battery charge

A Springville man has been arrested on a domestic battery charge following a reported altercation with a pregnant woman at a residence in Springville.

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call on Aug. 10 at a home on Sexton Springs Road. The caller, who will be referred to as the victim, told dispatchers 30-year-old Drake Robertson had attacked her. She said she walked to a neighbor’s house to call for help while a child remained inside with Robertson.

Deputies DeMier and Miller, along with Bloomfield Police Officer Brant, met the victim near the roadway. Two witnesses were also present. The victim alleged that Robertson had pushed her during a struggle over the child causing her to fall onto her side. She stated Robertson struck her in the stomach and face during the incident. The victim, who is pregnant, showed redness and swelling on the right side of her face and marks on her right arm.

Robertson denied assaulting the victim, telling deputies that she attacked him first during an argument. He acknowledged that a physical struggle occurred near a gate inside the residence but claimed he only attempted to pick up the child, per the probable cause affidavit.

Deputies documented injuries to both parties and spoke with neighbors who said the victim had told them Robertson hit her.

Robertson was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail.

He faces a Level 5 Felony charge of domestic battery with bodily injury to a pregnant woman.
