Deputy Carpenter continued through the woods but was not able to locate Newton. Deputy Holt picked Deputy Carpenter up on Oak Haven Drive. On the way back to Deputy Carpenter’s vehicle, they saw Newton behind a residence and when Newton saw the patrol vehicle, he took off running through the woods again.
With Deputy Holt positioning his vehicle on Newton Drive and Deputy Carpenter once again following Newton on foot through the woods, Newton ended up on Newton Drive and was taken into custody by Deputy Holt.
Newton was booked into the Greene County Jail at 11:43 a.m.
