Christopher Joshua Waye, 31, of Solsberry, was arrested on Sunday night, April 12, by Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Jackson was dispatched to the scene of a one-vehicle crash a little before 7 p.m. that Sunday on East Tulip Road west of Solsberry. The driver had exited the vehicle and started walking toward home. When Deputy Jackson arrived in the area, he first located the driver away from the vehicle where he was being checked by personnel from the Greene County Ambulance Service and the Beech Creek Fire Department.

Waye was identified as the driver of a white 2001 Ford F250 that was westbound on East Tulip Road when the crash occurred. Deputy Jackson reported the truck appeared to have run off the north side of the road, over-corrected to the south side of the road, then rolled into an open grass area.

Waye allegedly said when the rear end of his truck dropped off the road, he tried to correct it but lost control.

Waye signed a release refusing further medical treatment then was asked whether he had been drinking. Deputy Jackson reported he showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety testing.

A certified chemical test conducted at the sheriff’s department allegedly showed Waye had a blood-alcohol concentration of .086. The legal limit is .08.

Waye was booked into the Greene County Jail around 8:40 p.m. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released later that night.

An initial hearing was set for tomorrow, April 23, but Waye retained a private defense attorney and waived the hearing.

Waye has now been charged with:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15, a Class C misdemeanor.
