Solsberry couple charged with meth possession and child neglect
/A Solsberry couple has been charged with possession of meth and marijuana and child neglect after deputies searched the home they shared with three children. A meth pipe was found in the couch where two of the children would sleep.
Jasmine Raye Harrison, 28, and Randall David Harrison II, 31, both from Solsberry, were arrested by Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, July 25.
Around 11 a.m. that Sunday, Deputy Holt, the lead investigator on this case, was dispatched, along with GCSD Deputy Davis Aerne to a possible suicide attempt by a juvenile in the Solsberry area. During his conversation with the juvenile, Deputy Holt was told pills that were taken were inside the house, located on North Patterson Road.
When Deputy Holt knocked on the door of the house, two small juveniles opened the door for him and he reported he detected a strong odor of both raw and burned marijuana coming from the residence. He asked everyone in the house to step outside.
The house was occupied full-time by Jasmine and Randall Harrison and the two small juveniles. The older juvenile Deputy Holt first talked to, a young teen, was there on weekends only.
The Harrisons denied consent to search the residence, so a search warrant was requested and granted by Superior Court Judge Dena Martin.
Deputy Holt reported that when the search warrant was executed, Deputy Aerne found a “one-hitter” smoking device with burnt residue in a couch cushion, and a metal container with two glass smoking devices with white residue and a small zip baggie with residue in a nightstand. The residues later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Deputy Aerne also found a glass smoking device with burnt residue in another nightstand with a zip baggie containing green plant material and a red metal grinder with green plant material as well as a small cellophane bag that contained a mixture of tobacco and green plant material. The material in the red grinder field-tested positive as marijuana.
Deputy Holt said the “one-hitter” pipe was found on a couch that Jasmine Harrison said the two young juveniles would sleep on, and all of the items seized as evidence from the house were located about two feet off the ground within easy reach of all three of the juveniles.
During an interview conducted later at the sheriff’s department, Randall Harrison allegedly admitted the items belonged to him.
Jasmine Harrison was booked into the Greene County Jail at 2:23 p.m. Randall Harrison was booked in at 2:33 p.m. Both were first held without bond pending court appearances.
Last Thursday, July 29, both Harrisons appeared in Greene Superior Court for their initial hearings via two-way video between the jail and the courtroom. Both were charged with:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Maintaining a common nuisance – controlled substances, a Level 6 felony,
Neglect of a dependent – dependent placed in situation that endangered the dependent, a Level 6 felony,
Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
A public defender was appointed to represent each, and both were served with three no-contact orders.
Jasmine Harrison’s bond was set at $13,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Randall Harrison’s bond was set at $25,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
After their hearings, Jasmine posted $1,300 and was released from jail and Randall posted $2,500 and was released from jail.
