Shopper arrested for trespassing

A shopper was arrested at a local store last Friday on a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. She had signed a form in 2018 not to trespass on the store’s property but said she thought it was only for one year.

Kelsey Renee Chambers, 25, Linton, was arrested by Officer Davis Aerne of the Linton Police Department last Friday, February 11.

Officer Aerne was dispatched to the Walmart store in Linton last Friday around 4:14 p.m. when LPD was advised of a trespasser inside the store.

When Officer Aerne arrived, one of the store’s asset protection associates handed him a copy of a trespass form signed by Kelsey Chambers in 2018 in which she agreed she understood she was not to trespass on any Walmart property. The associate then pointed out Chambers walking into a check-out lane in the store.

LPD Officer Wayman JR Blazier, who also responded, walked up to Chambers and asked to talk to her.

Chambers allegedly told the officers that she remembered signing the form but she thought it was only for one year.

Chambers was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in at 4:53 p.m. with bond set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $100 and was released later the same day.

Chambers is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on February 24 for her initial hearing on a charge of criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor.
